Add Women’s and Gender Studies to your MTSU Degree

Women’s and Gender Studies Program offers the 18-hour Women’s and Gender Studies minor to enhance students’ knowledge and understanding of gender issues and the position of women in society. The program encourages a historically grounded comparative, global feminist perspective. All courses are informed by theories of the social construction of gender and address issues of diversity including race, ethnicity, class, sexual orientation, nationality, age, and/or ability. The program emphasizes an interactive learning process and promotes scholarly research.

GRADUATE CERTIFICATE

Develop Specialized Interdisciplinary Knowledge of Women and Gender

The 15-hour Women’s and Gender Studies Certificate program is designed to provide students with specialized knowledge and training in the field of Women’s and Gender Studies. Students will have an opportunity to acquire advanced training and expertise in feminist theory, feminist methodology, and in fundamental issues in the field, such as issues of gender inequality, difference, and the intersection of gender and other forms of social identity and positioning. These include race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic class, age, ability, religion, and nationality.
